How do Lost Locators affect Billing?

Each Lost Locator Record has a Billing State. The Billing State summarizes if you will be charged, if you will be refunded, or if the situation has been resolved without any charges and refunds at all. There are five different Billing States, listed below:

Not Yet Billed

This state indicates that the Locator has been lost, and will be billed on a future invoice.

Lost Locators show up on an invoice a minimum of 30 days in the future. This means they will not be added to the next upcoming invoice but rather to the one after that.

For example, a Locator lost on January 15 will be charged in the February invoice (that is generated on 3/1).

Never Billed

This Locator was lost and then found before it was ever billed on an invoice. You were never charged for this lost Locator.

For example, a Locator lost on January 15th will be charged in the February invoice (that is generated on 3/1). However, if that lost Locator were found on February 21st, it is removed from the February invoice and marked as “Never Billed.” There will not be a Lost or a Found Invoice ID.

To Be Refunded

This Locator was lost, billed on an invoice, and then the Locator was found. There will be a refund for it on your next invoice.

For example, a Locator lost on January 15th was charged in the February invoice (that is generated on 3/1). However, if that lost Locator were found on March 8th, a credit will be added to the March invoice (that is generated on 4/1) and the record will be marked as “Found - To Be Refunded” until that invoice is generated.
