Overview
In order to effectively enable the key management and tracking features proposed by RecovR for Keys, car dealers will need to pair a RecovR Tag to every vehicle key or keyfob; this operation consists of physically attaching a RecovR Tag to the vehicle key in addition to pairing operation done on the RecovR portal.
This operation is expected to take less than 10 seconds per individual Key to Tag pairing.
What is Pairing?
Pairing is creating a 1:1 relationship between a Key and a Tag. The data collected from the tag (zone, status, etc.) is then forwarded to the Key.
If a user wishes to pair or unpair a tag from a key, they will navigate to the Keys tab within the Location path. They will then select the pairing icon from the top of the group page. Currently, pairing and unpairing is only supported within the group page.
Pairing
Step 1: Selecting a Key
If a key has not been selected yet, the user can search for one by the Key´s ID. Enter at least 3 characters to search. If the user selects a key in the table prior to entering the flow, the key will be auto-populated.
Step 2: Selecting a Tag
To select a Tag, the user can search for it using the Tag ID that can be found on the back of the device. If the key was already paired, selecting a new tag will unpair the original tag and pair the new one.
Unpairing
If a key has not been selected yet, the user can search for one by the Key’s ID. Enter at least 3 characters to search. If the user selected a key the table prior to entering the flow the key will be auto-populated.
If the selected key is already paired to a tag, then the user can chose to Unpair.
Errors preventing Pairing
Users will be unable to pair a tag in the following cases:
Tag has low battery
Tags with battery level below 50% cannot be paired. Please charge the tag battery.
Tag is not activated or out of Gateways range
Please make sure the tag is activated as indicated in the instructions. If the tag is activated make sure the tag is in a Gateway coverage area placing it in an indoor zone.
