Overview
Dealers will be able to ring the tag paired to a key in three different places:
1. From the list of keys
2. The map card that shows up when a key is selected, and
3. The key item screen.
This action is only enabled for keys paired to tags
"Find Key" Functionality
Activating "Find Key"
There are three different states for the "Find Key" function.
First, it can be active and ready to be used. When "Find Key" is selected, the paired tag will beep and flash LED lights. The "Find Key" button will work as long as the paired tag is near a "gateway," which is a device plugged into the wall within the dealership.
Second, if the paired tag is outside or too far from a "gateway" within the dealership, the "Find Key" functionality will not work. The button will be disabled and there will be a message that the paired tag is out of range.
Third, if the key is not paired with a tag, there will be no "Find Key" button at all. There will be a message to that says no tag has been paired.
Looking for the Key
If available, pressing on the "Find Key" button will trigger the search request.
Gateway Selection Logic
Once a Tag ring command has been initiated, the system checks for pending Tag ring commands any time a Gateway checks in. The ring command is sent or re-queued based on the following logic:
Within the first 15 seconds after the ring command has been initiated: Send to any Gateway that reports the Tag with an RSSI equal to, or greater than, -75
After 15 seconds: Fall back to any Gateway that reports the Tag with an RSSI equal to, or greater than, -95
The system waits for up to two minutes to check if a Gateway reports the Tag in its detection list. The users have the option to cancel the request during this time.
Finding the Key
When the Gateway confirms that the Tag received the command, it is indicated that the Tag is now ringing. At the same time, the Tag will begin to emit light and sounds for 30 seconds after the acknowledgement of the command.
After a 35-second delay (accounting for the time it takes for the Tag to stop ringing, plus a 5-second buffer), the process returns to the initial state and the "Ring Key" command can be sent again.
Errors preventing the success of the command:
If no Gateway reports the Tag after two minutes, an error toast message is displayed, and the process returns to the initial state.
If 90 seconds pass and the Gateway has not sent a confirmation, the system provides a toast before returning to the start of the flow.
