RecovR offers optional two-step authentication for enhanced security. Two-step authentication is a simple and effective method to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and potential data breaches.

Setting up Two-Step Authentication

Go to Account Settings and select the Security tab.

You will have the option to select Email, SMS Text Message, or an Authentication App (e.g. Google Authentication App) as your second factor of authentication.

  • Authenticator App: A security code will be generated by an authenticator app

  • Email: A security code will be sent to the chosen email address

  • SMS: A security code will be sent to the chosen phone number

Note: This email and phone number you select are NOT synced or linked to your contact email and phone number.

Using the Authenticator App

An authenticator app allows you to generate security codes on your phone instead of receiving text messages.

  1. Install Google Authenticator or any Authenticator app of your choice.

  2. Use your app to scan the barcode, or enter this secret key manually.

  3. Enter the code generated by your authenticator app.

Disabling Two-Step Authentication

Go to Account Settings and select Security. There, you will see options to Remove existing authentication methods. Click on the button to end that form of authentication.

Note: If you have multiple authentication methods enabled, then removing one will still keep Two-Step Authentication enabled for the remaining method. To fully disable two-step authentication, you must remove all authentication methods.

Using Backup Codes

When you enable a Two-Step Authentication Method, you will be provided backup codes, which you can use in the event that you lose access to your second step of authentication. It's important that you store your backup codes in a secure place outside of the RecovR application so that you can access them if you're logged out of your account.
