Beacon Q&A

Which Beacon is reported by the Locator ?

The Locator does only look for a Bluetooth signal of a Beacon if there is no GPS signal.

Then it tries to report the Beacons of which it receives the best signal.

In case of interferences , for example caused by walls, other Bluetooth or WiFi signals, obstacles, it may not be the very nearest Beacon.

Why does the Locator not report the closest or nearest Beacon ?

please see the explication above.

The Locator does try to report the Beacons with best signal it receives, which might not be the very nearest one, due to signal interferences or limitations mentioned above.

Does my Locator see / receive the Beacon signal ?

As already mentioned, the Locator does only check for Beacon signal when not receiving any GPS signal.

If there is a Beacon that is never assigned to a Locator, and you have deep doubts about the Beacon, please open a support ticket and we are happy to clarify any open point.

Why does my Locator not show any Beacon ?

If a Locator does receive a GPS signal, it will not try to receive Bluetooth signals.

When a Locator is positioned indoors and not receiving a GPS signal, it may occur in very few cases that it does not right away find a Beacon signal to report.

The Locator will retry after a movement (plus waiting period) or periodically every 24h.

How often and when does a Locator search for a Beacon signal ?

The Locator does search for GPS and/or Bluetooth signals after a short period of not moving any more.

It also does report its position or Beacons periodically each 24h when not being moved.

My Locator does not report the Beacon where it is parked.

please see the explanations above , why it may occur that a Locator does not show the Beacon placed the most close to it.
